The main methods which Wilbert prefers to use

 

The following methods supplement and reinforce each other. They form one organic whole. The sequence and combination of methods are always tuned to the individual and his complaints.

 

Focusing: Communicate with the wisdom of your body.

 

  

 

Focusing is about the wisdom of the body. One pays attention to the total body-sense of that “what asks attention" in the body.  Eugene T Gendlin, who developed Focusing, called that the Felt Sense. Focusing on the Felt Sense leads to a dialogue between body and head and a deeper insight in what plays. Focusing with an experienced partner stimulates this proces and in the beginning is absolutely needed.  

 

Wilbert is a Focusing “professional”. He has been accompanying people with Focusing for years.

 


Somatic Experiencing (SE): Digesting trauma

 

The self regulating power of the human organism is central in SE. Somebody tries to deal with “something” serious but does not succeed. When the integrity of the person, physical or emotional, is affected, that is called traumatic. What it is specifically differs from person to person. The “something” can be one event, for example, an accident, or a series of events over a long period, for example, when growing up. The consequences of the trauma are physical and in the body: the reaction-pattern of the person is disregulated and his life energy gets blocked. There is a range of consequences which gradually expand, for example: nervousnes, insomnia, lack of concentration, a tic, fear, panic, pain and disease. The person has no control over this. If somebody is reminded of the “something”, he relives it and the consequences are etched even deeper. That is why Peter Levine PhD and others have developed Somatic Experiencing in the past decennia. SE operates in small steps into and out of the “trauma” in such a way that the client keeps feeling safe. The blocked energy discharges gradually, the nervous system and the reaction patterns heal and the capacity of the person to deal with similar problems increases.

 

Wilbert is certified in Somatic Experiencing and has been working with it for some years.

 

 

Taoist methods: working with Chi, life energy.

 

Life energy is also very important in Focusing and Somatic Experiencing. The subtle massages of Chi Nei Tsang and the exercises and meditations of Chi Kung strengthen and deepen the healing of body and mind.

 

Wilbert is a Senior Instructor and instructor of Chi Nei Tsang within the Universal Tao of Master Mantak Chia . He has been using these methods for many years.

 

 

 Spiritual view of Life: What do you do here on earth?  

How a person deals with his difficulties has much to do with how he looks to the how and why of his life here on earth. Taoism and Advaita Vedanta are two old views of life, free of specific religions. They inspire and liberate.

 

The Taoists were excellent observers of the total person both by himself and in relation to the universe. Their way of looking always integrates body, emotions, mind, spirit, the person and his environment. Their view fits well with Somatic Experiencing and Focusing. The same is true for the Advaita Vedanta. This old Indian philosophy emphasizes the unity in the creation.

Wilbert has long worked with both these views and still does. His life has helped him to integrate many of their insights in his being.

 

 

 

 

Science.

 

Also the scientist in Wilbert is still there. He observes and works with what he sees and together with you searches for the patterns in you and your life, how to understand those and change them.

 

 

The Transformation Game

he Transformation Game is a board game designed around 1980 by Joy Drake and Kathy Tyler, then of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland (findhorn.org) and now of Innerlinks (innerlinks.com). Since the start it has been regularly fine tuned and updated.

 

 

The Transformation Game is usually played by one to four players. More are possible. The Game offers the players a rich variety of challenges and opportunities to reflect on their present and past lifes and to interact with their co-players. Playing it is an excellent way to learn more about oneself in practice observing one's own and other players' actions. In that way it illuminates patterns, offers insights towards new directions, and supports change and transformation. The in-depth journey is marked with realizations, obstacles, angels, and miracles. Gain awareness and heal pain as you advance through physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realms. It's an effective way to clarify important issues, resolve conflicts, and creatively enhance relationships.

 

It is played with two themes in mind. The first theme is about what one wants to learn through playing the Game. It is often formulated in terms of: I like to find out more about (an important issue in the life of the player) and how to deal with it. Examples of such issues are: What kind of job would I like? What is my depression about? How would I want to decorate my house? How to deal with a partner or the absence of a partner, What environement would stimulate me? How can I learn to ask things for myself? And so on.

 

The other theme is about a quality one has or wants to develop and which one wants to contribute to the game. One can think about qualities such as hospitality, humor, supportiveness, openess and so on.

 

Both themes are set before the game, explained to all participants, discussed, possibly adjusted, written up and stored in a place where they are clearly visible to all. The purpose of playing the Game is to get clarity about the first theme and explore ones contribution to life.

 

The Game is sold as a box game with simple instructions. There is also a much more complex and rich set of instructions which accredited facilitators can use for assisting and guiding players. A facilitator helps with the rules and assists the players so that they get more out of their play.

 

The length of play depends on the time players have available but also on the number of players. For example with four or less players one day or even better an evening and one day or a number of evenings are all good choices. With more than four players one would want a bit more time in general.
